I've got a BUN cooking in the OVEN

thats right....baby number 2 is on the way.
I went to the docotrs today and I am 9 weeks...due May 14, 2010.

I sent my mom and dad this picture to tell them I was pregnant.
Then bun is actually plastic from kota's play kitchen and after taking the picture I
left it in the oven and forgot and the next time I turned the oven on it started melting
before I realized it was there :)

Hopefully I can take better care of the real thing.

as promised. . .

I said I would post pictures of our blue grass when it arrived, but once it got here I wasn't so sure I wanted ANYONE to EVER see it. It's even bluer than these pictures suggest...if you can believe that.
One guy deliverd it and put it on my driveway and said he was just gonna leave it there. This piece of blue-plastic- whatever-you-want-to-call-it was rolled up and it was HUGE. I batted my eyes and told him if he didn't help me get it in the back it would stay here on the driveway forever. So the two of us lugged and pulled and dragged until we made it around to the back of our house (we have no back door just a small gate and L shaped walkway until you reach the yard). Then he left. I yanked and pulled and rolled it out for about an hour until I finally got it in place. I think if my neighbors were watching they were probably thinking "great, white trash neighbors. Am I gonna have to stare at this blue grass out my back windows forever or should I call the HOA?" I've yet to recive a phone call from the HOA...but I am definitely still waiting.
The kids love it though and it is so nice to have a place for them to play outside. Blue grass will have to do until rico graduates and hopefully makes enough money to turn it green :) Until then, if you want to feel like your walking on water, come on over to my house!

You know it's still too hot to play outside when you come in from a short 10 minute walk and your kids faces look like this.

Please come soon fall weather!

kota's mad face

kota gets a bit upset during meal times. The smallest things set her off. If I try to feed her. If the food falls of her spoon. If the spoon falls on the floor. If the food isn't what she wants (seriously how many choices should you give a 1 year old?).

This is the face I often see when kota is upset about her food.

I'm pretty serious about my food too though, so I know where you are coming from kota girl.

he should be famous

My oobber talented brother in law asked me to take some photos of him the other day and we had a lot of fun and got some good shots.

This guy can sing and his pink guitar is definitely awesome.

Taylor is not camera shy which made the photo shoot so easy and super fun.

is this heaven

Sunday we decided to take a quick trip down to Newport beach for the holiday. I haven't been in too long and it was just as I remember it.... perfect. There is nothing like sitting on the beach, swimming in the ocean, and eating good food all weekend long.
Kota loved it. She played in the sand for hours and ran from the water while she squealed.
We took a bike ride to Balboa pier and kota loved sitting on the back of the bike. We almost ended up staying another night but we ended up finding the responsible side of us and reluctantly headed home to the desert.

Grandma Karyn sent kota a package in the mail with these cute jammies and pink mocasins. Kota LOVED them and wouldn't put them down after we opened the package.
That night when we put them on she was all smiles.

Thank you Grandma!

Getting fun mail is REALLY fun!

Daddy

Kota loves her daddy. Perched on his shoulders, playing in his hair is definitely one of her favorite spots.
I love when she wears his t-shirts.
These two make my life so awesome.
Love you Rico.
Love you Kota.

garage sale spoils

Who knew garage sale shopping could be so fun and promising!? I have been wanting to hunt for toys for awhile but never seem to get up early enough to hit the garage sales. This saturday I finally pulled myself out of bed at 6 and was first in line at some pretty great sales. These are just a few of my sweet finds...other treasures included an entire wooden train set $4, basketball hoop $5, car $5, table $5, electric 4-wheeler $5 and some other smaller toys. Can't beat that! I think i'm addicted and am already planning this saturdays trip.

Young LOVE

The other day I had one of the most enjoyable conversations I have had in a long time with my ten year old niece. She stayed with me the other day and as we drove around running errands she delightfully talked the WHOLE time...except when I managed to sneak in a comment or new question. It was so cute and refreshing. (Rico has three little brothers who, although they are adorable and sweet, can easily go a whole car ride without a single word (except that I try to squeeze stuff out of them and get YES NO MAYBE SO answers).
So hearing this little girl tell me everything from what she puts in her lunch to go to school, to what boys she likes was wonderful. I love little girls!

But the best part of the whole conversation started with "do you like any boys at school?" She told me all about Peter Higgins and his not too subtle acts of flirting. How does she know Peter Higgins has a crush on her? Well when she asked the teacher for a pencil, Peter quickly offered her his... now if that doesn't tell you a boy likes you I don't know what does!

And that was that. She knew, without a doubt, that his boy wanted to be her boyfriend. Next time I will think twice before offering someone a writing utensil!

I couldn't help but smile as she told me about Peter and his other forward acts, like when he chased her around the playground. I wish Rico still chased me around the playground and offered me pencils with a hidden meaning.

As my niece was telling me her ten year old whirlwind romance with Peter Higgins I couldn't help but think of Kota in 9 years telling me these same stories :) I CAN'T WAIT! Except Kota's Peter Higgins better not do ANYTHING more than offer Kota a pencil...or we might have to have a talk.

our new digs

we moved a few weeks ago and are finally getting settled in...I HATE moving. We only signed a year lease and i can't even think about moving again in just ONE year. UGH!

It's been fun decorating this new place though. Thanks to my sister Michelle who always lets me steal ideas from her!

no touchy

today I took some placemats we got for our wedding and turned them into pillows. I have been wanting to spice up our ugly dark orange pillows for a few weeks and finally got around to it. I also made the round one with extra fabric I had. They turned out ok for someone who BARLEY sews.

Rico will be mad because now he won't be able to touch ANY of the pillows. JUST for LOOKs, I always tell him. Men don't seem to get that concept. and if you think about it, its kind of dumb that we have pillows you can't use. But thats just how it is.

dads make good forts

Sunday afternoons are the best. Yesterday Rico made kota forts all over the family room. I think he had more fun than she did.
After that we went on a walk just as the sun was setting...beautiful.

I can't wait till next Sunday

what I get to do ALL day. . .

Being a mom is the BEST. Sure doing the laundry and dishes day in and day out gets tedious, but getting to spend each day with Kota laughing and playing makes up for every dish I wash and every piece of clothing I have to fold.

I also enjoy watching my niece and nephew three days a week. We have so much fun.

Some people ask me what I do all day staying at home as a mom...
well here it is. . .

teach kota how to take funny Pics...

be a horse...

try on cool glasses

be silly

spend a LOT of time on the floor

and I LOVE it. Being a mom is the best. I love staying at home with Kota and being her mama ALL day. What could be better than looking at these cute faces all day and acting like a kid half the time? I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Armies of Helaman

My mom has started a blog (rightfully titled Armies of Helaman) to tell about all their experiences in the mission field. It will be really fun to read about some of the neat experiences the Elders share with them and the wonderful experiences they enjoy themselves. So take a look every now and then to hear some great spiritual stories and see what they are up to.

Kota's happenings

Kota is finally finding her balance and starting to walk without hitting a wall or tripping over herself. I'm not sure about her coordination...I don't know if we have a great dancer or soccer player on our hands...but she sure is CUTE!
We moved into a new house this week and kota is loving her new sourroundings. She is picking up more and more words and we are always surprised by her.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE her!

Ode to Grandma and Grandpa

We said goodbye to mom and dad a few weeks ago as they left to serve a mission in DC. It was a neat experience seeing them get set apart by Elder Ballard. They are already AMAZING! Busy, Busy, Busy all day. It sounds like the next 3 years will be jam packed but worth every second and sacrifice.
We LOVE you mom and dad! Thanks for your EXAMPLE.

I'm Finally Walking!

My little baby is finally walking! Last night she just decided she liked it and started walking all over. We were sitting on the floor together and she would walk to the door and back to me, then to the kitchen, then back, over and over again.
I can't believe she is growing up so fast!

Kota girl

Always pointing at something she wants.

My Kota loves her some glasses.
Posted by Picasa

Kota is getting so big and is learning new things everyday. It is so much fun to watch her explore and see her brain work as she figures out something new. She always turns with a huge smile to see if I have seen her new discovery. She loves when we clap for her and in turn claps for herself. Lately she has done things like find shoes or socks and try to put them on her feet, try to put anything resembling a purse over her arm and carry it around, put hats on her head, play peek a boo with anything that covers her face, push buttons on everything (turns the tv off whenever I am watching something good), puts puppets on her hands, tries to put glasses on (mostly gets poked in the eye).

Some of her favorite new things to do are give kisses. She puckers her lips up just perfect and says "mmmmwwaahh!" It is too cute. She especially likes to kiss little kids...mostly her cousins markie, graham, and madi. She is also starting to blow kisses to anyone who blows one at her first. She can show you where her nose is (although the coordination is a little tricky and usually she pokes her mouth or eye, but she can find my nose perfectly...must be huge :) She loves to bark like a dog but is Terrified of them. She can hiss like a snake and moo like a cow. She points to anything and everything she wants. This is the worst during meals because she knows exactly what she wants for each bite and points to it. If I give her the wrong thing she push it and whines. And she almost always wants my food, even if we are having the same thing. She LOVES anything chocolate and screams and throws fits if she sees some and doesn't get any. This always happens at parties, showers, receptions, etc. and in the end I always give it to her so she will be quite...(I'm afraid we might have a huge child soon).

I finally got her to watch a baby Einstein video. She sits on the couch and claps, dances, and points for about ten minutes. I think it is so cute. But of course I think everything she does it cute. Life is getting busier but it is so much fun. I still can't get enough of this little girl.

Cabin Trip

Kota hangin with her cousins

We had such a fun weekend with my family at a cabin in Brian head. It was our last trip together before my parents head off to D.C. The weekend was awesome but ended in everyone catching the rotovirus (throw up, diarrhea)...yuck! It will be a funny memory though.

Kota's new ride

Kota loves her new Big Girl seat. She loves being able to see out the windows and watch mom dance. She almost always finds herself getting caught up in the rhythm too... bouncing her head to the beat. I also find it much easier to pass her food when she is mad. The bank tellers always seem to know when we need a sucker (Is it because they hear her screaming?) The only problem I have found with the seat is that I have a hard time paying attention to the road because I like to stare at her in the review mirror.
